Wellington, Feb. 24 -- As New Zealand thrashed India in the first Test by 10 wickets, skipper Virat Kohli said toss played a crucial role and turned out to be an important factor in determining the result of the clash.

"Toss turned out to be very important. As a batting unit we take pride in being competitive, but we weren't. Even scoring 220-230 would've been good.
