India, Nov. 22 -- Amazon has announced major layoffs, with engineers bearing the brunt of the cuts, according to reports.
In October, the e-commerce giant revealed plans to eliminate 14,000 jobs across nearly all business segments.
Documents filed in New York, California, New Jersey, and Washington showed that roughly 40% of the more than 4,700 job cuts in those states involved engineering roles, CNBC reported.
Human Resources chief Beth Galetti said in a memo that the company aims to innovate more efficiently with a leaner workforce.
