Sohna (Haryana), Sept. 4 -- Japanese firm TDK Corporation, which supplies batteries to Apple, opened a Rs 3,000 crore lithium-ion battery plant in Haryana's Sohna.

The facility was inaugurated by Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Vaishnaw said the facility signifies a major milestone in India's vision to develop a complete electronics manufacturing value chain.

The new plant will manufacture batteries for wearables like watches and earbuds, mobile phones, laptops, and wireless gadgets.

TDK's key clients include Apple, top smartphone brands, and laptop makers among its key customers.
