Kolkata, July 18 -- Tata Steel's Hooghly Met Coke (HMC) Division in Haldia has set a new benchmark in India's metallurgical coke industry, becoming the country's first non-recovery coke-making unit to produce 25 million tonnes of coke in a single campaign life - without any major repair or overhaul, according to a press release on Friday.
The record, achieved on June 29, 2025, underscores Tata Steel's operational excellence and engineering resilience.
