Mumbai, June 19 -- Strengthening its push for greener transportation and a circular economy, Tata Motors on Wednesday announced the opening of two new vehicle scrapping facilities-under its Re.Wi.Re (Recycle with Respect) initiative-in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

The centres were virtually inaugurated by Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.

The facilities are part of the government's National Vehicle Scrappage Policy and are equipped to safely dismantle end-of-life passenger and commercial vehicles, including two- and three-wheelers, from all brands.

He lauded Tata Motors for establishing a pan-India infrastructure that aligns with global standards and furthers the cause of sustainability.
