Dhaka/IBNS, Dec. 25 -- Bangladesh's volatile political landscape entered a decisive new phase on Thursday asTarique Rahman, acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and son of former prime minister Khaleda Zia, returned home after more than 17 years in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom.

Rahman's homecoming comes at a time when Bangladesh remains gripped by unrest following the ouster of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and the installation of a Muhammad Yunus-led interim government.
