Kolkata/IBNS, Dec. 6 -- Suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir is set to lay the foundation stone of a Babri Masjid-modelled mosque at Rejinagar in Beldanga, Murshidabad, on Saturday amid simmering political tensions in poll-bound West Bengal.
The date coincides with the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, which took place on December 6, 1992, when Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and allied groups led a march to the disputed site.
Security has been tightened in Beldanga to prevent any flare-ups, following earlier riots this year during protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act passed by the central government.
