Srinagar/IBNS, April 24 -- One soldier was killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, media reports said.
A search operation was launched based on an intelligence input about the presence of terrorists.
The firing occurred during a cordon in Dudu-Basantgarh area.
The encounter took place two days after 26 tourists, most Hindus, including a Navy officer, an Air Force staff and one from Intelligence Bureau were killed in an Islamic terror attack in the popular tourist spot of Pahalgam in South Kashmir.
