India, Oct. 4 -- Singaporean legal authorities have sentenced two Indian tourists to five years and one month in prison, along with 12 strokes of the cane, for allegedly robbing and assaulting two sex workers in hotel rooms.

The two Indians were identified as Arokkiyasami Daison, 23, and Rajendran Mayilarasan, 27.

They were sentenced to five years and one month in jail and given 12 strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to voluntarily causing hurt while robbing the victims, reported The Straits Times.

The court heard that the duo had arrived in Singapore for a holiday on April 24.

He provided them with the contact numbers of two sex workers and left the spot.
