Nagpur/IBNS, Feb. 7 -- India batter Shubman Gill may have missed his century by 13 runs but ensured India's comfortable victory over England in the first One Day International (ODI) when he departed for 87 in Nagpur on Thursday.
India continued their winning momentum they had brought from the T20I series with a convincing four-wicket victory in the first of the three ODIs.
Iyer slammed a quick 59 from only 36 balls (9 fours and 2 sixes) until he was dismissed leg before wicket by Jacob Bethell.
Gill was then joined by allrounder Axar Patel, who followed Iyer's footsteps in slamming an aggressive 52 from 47 balls.
Earlier, India bowled out England for 248 in 47.4 overs.
