India, Aug. 10 -- Shubman Gill recently showcased his captaincy capabilities by successfully leading his side in England in the five-match Test series, and now he can get a promotion in the T20 squad.

According to RevSportz, Gill is likely to be named as skipper Suryakumar Yadav's deputy in the Asia Cup squad.

Gill will mark a return to the T20 squad with the major Asian cricket tournament.

Gill's last T20 appearance was in the series against Sri Lanka in 2024.

There is a growing consensus that Gill, who is also India's ODI vice-captain, will eventually become India's ODI captain in the coming years and is likely to lead the side in the 2027 ODI World Cup, to be played in South Africa, reported Rev Sportz.
