New Delhi/IBNS, April 8 -- In a relief for the already under-pressure Mamata Banerjee government in the jobs scam case, the Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the creation of supernumerary posts in state-run schools, media reports said.
The top court bench led by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna rejected the Calcutta High Court verdict where it had directed theCBI to take members of the state cabinet into custody for probe if necessary.
In April 2024, a three-judge Supreme Court bench headed by erstwhile Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud had ordered a stay on the Calcutta High Court verdict.
