India, Aug. 9 -- A prominent Baloch activist has written a letter to US President Donald Trump and urged him to recognise Balochistan as a free and independent state.

In his letter posted on X, Mir Yar Baloch shared the way Balochistan has suffered financially uner Pakistan's influence.

He wrote on X: "With the deepest respect, we address you on behalf of the people of the Republic of Balochistan, an ancient, sovereign nation under illegal occupation by Pakistan and Iran."

"Despite being rich in terms of rare earth minerals, oil, gas, strategic geography, air bases and sea ports, our people continue to suffer under oppressive regimes that suppress our secular and peaceful traditions," he said.
