Mumbai, April 5 -- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday announced that it will shortly release Rs.10 and Rs.500 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series featuring the signature of Governor Sanjay Malhotra.
The Central bank clarified that the design of these notes remains unchanged from the existing Rs.10 and Rs.500 notes currently in circulation under the same series.
This move follows the central bank's announcement last month to introduce new Rs.100 and Rs.200 notes bearing Malhotra's signature.
Malhotra assumed charge as the RBI Governor in December 2024, succeeding Shaktikanta Das, who completed his extended tenure.
