Mumbai, Aug. 16 -- The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Friday named Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the men's cricket team.

The decisoon to reappoint Shastri was taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).

The CAC is comprised of former Indian captain Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy.

Kapil Dev, while addressing a press conference, said the decision was taken 'unanimously'.

Mike Hesson, Robin Singh, Tom Moody, Lalchand Rajput had also applied for the job.

Shastri was the coach of the Indian side that played the semi-finals of the World Cup this year.

India is currently touring West Indies.
