India, Jan. 29 -- An FIR has been filed against actor Ranveer Singh in Bengaluru for allegedly insulting Hindu religious sentiments and the Chavundi Daiva tradition of coastal Karnataka.
The case has been registered under Sections 196, 299 and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint by Bengaluru-based advocate Prashanth Methal, police said.
According to the FIR, the alleged incident occurred during the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 28, 2025.
The complaint stated that the actor imitated expressions associated with Panjurli and Guliga Daiva and described them in a "crude, comical and derogatory" manner.
