India, July 19 -- Punjab Police have detained a software engineer from the Faridabad area of Haryana in connection with the recent emails sent to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), threatening to blow up the Golden Temple.

The detained person was identified as a 24-year-old Shubham Dubey.

SGPC chief secretary Kulwant Singh Manan has disclosed to the media that a fresh e-mail has been received threatening the Golden Temple.

Addressing a press conference, Amritsar commissioner of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar told Hindustan Times that Dubey is a BTech-degree holder and has worked with two software companies but is currently unemployed.

Police have recovered Dubey's equipment, including a laptop and mobile phones.
