India, Oct. 22 -- A major political controversy has erupted in West Bengal after reports of alleged vandalism of a Kali idol in Kakdwip, near the Sundarbans.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of appeasement and mishandling the situation after the idol was reportedly removed by police in a van.
Videos shared on social media showed an idol of Goddess Kali being taken away in a police vehicle, drawing sharp criticism from opposition leaders.
