India, April 14 -- Fugitive Indian businessman and diamond merchant Mehul Choksi, who was found living in Antwerp, has been arrested by the police in Belgium, media reports quoting the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said.
According to reports, he was arrested on Saturday and put behind bars.
Choksi is wanted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for allegedly defrauding Punjab National Bank (PNB) of Rs.13,850 crore.
He was previously believed to be residing in Antigua and Barbuda.
However, he left the Caribbean nation for medical treatment, while still holding Antiguan citizenship, Antigua's Foreign Minister EP Chet Greene told ANI on March 19.
