New Delhi/IBNS, June 5 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a Sindoor sapling at his residence in New Delhi on the occasion of World Environment Day on Thursday.

The plant was gifted to him by the brave mothers and sisters of Kutch, Gujarat, who had displayed extraordinary courage and patriotism during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.

Recalling his recent visit to Gujarat, the Prime Minister said the gift of the Sindoor plant will remain a strong symbol of the bravery and inspiration of the women power of our country.

Modi has also participated in a tree plantation drive and planted a sapling at the Bhagwan Mahavir Vanasthali Park in Delhi strengthening the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative.
