New Delhi/Chennai, March 26 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the new Pamban rail bridge in Tamil Nadu on April 6, coinciding with Ram Navami, a festival marking the birth of Lord Ram, The Times of India reported.
The bridge will enhance rail connectivity to Rameswaram, one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Hinduism.
A major boost for pilgrimage and tourism
Rameswaram is believed to be the place where Lord Ram built a bridge to Lanka, as described in the Ramayana. The site attracts over 25 lakh pilgrims annually, and the improved infrastructure is expected to further boost religious tourism.
