Siwan (Bihar), June 20 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off a cutting-edge diesel locomotive from the Marhowra Plant in Bihar, marking the first such export from the facility.

Made for the Republic of Guinea, the locomotive is part of India's strategic push to become a global manufacturing hub under the 'Make in India' initiative.

These high-powered locomotives are equipped with advanced AC propulsion systems, regenerative braking, microprocessor-based control technology, and ergonomically designed cabins.

The export is part of a broader agreement with Guinea titled "Project KOMO", which covers the supply of 140 diesel locomotives valued at approximately Rs.3,000 crore.
