Gir (Gujarat), March 3 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a lion safari at Gujarat's Gir Wildlife Sanctuary on Monday morning to commemorate World Wildlife Day.

Armed with a camera, he took on the role of a photographer, capturing images of Gir's rich wildlife.

Recalling his tenure as Gujarat's Chief Minister, Modi spoke about his government's efforts in wildlife conservation, emphasising that sustained initiatives over the years have contributed to the steady growth of the Asiatic lion population.

He also lauded the role of local tribal communities and women in safeguarding the lions' habitat, acknowledging their contributions to conservation efforts.
