India, Feb. 17 -- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday met Bangladesh's newly sworn-in Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and handed over a warm letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, congratulating him on his party's victory in the parliamentary elections and his appointment as Prime Minister.
The letter extended a personal invitation to Rahman, his wife Dr Zubaida, and daughter Zaima to visit India at a "mutually convenient time," stating: "A warm welcome awaits you in India."
Speaker Birla also spoke to Rahman over the phone, conveying PM Modi's congratulations on behalf of India.
