Accra/IBNS, July 3 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Wednesday (local time) conferred with 'The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana' during his historic visit to the country.

The Prime Minister said the honour is a "responsibility" for him to keep working for a stronger bilateral relationship between India and Ghana.

Earlier on Wednesday, Modi was received by Ghana President John Dramani Mahama at the airport and accorded a ceremonial welcome.

Modi's visit to Ghana is the first such visit in the last three decades.

This visit is considered to further deepen the partnership between India and Ghana, and underscores India's commitment to strengthening its engagement with Africa and Global South Partners.
