India, Jan. 19 -- The Noida Authority CEO, M Lokesh, has been removed from his post following the death of a 27-year-old software engineer whose car plunged into a water-filled pit at an under-construction site in Sector 150, triggering widespread outrage and protests, media reports said.

The victim, Yuvraj Mehta, who worked with a Gurugram-based company, was returning home late Friday when his car fell into the ditch amid dense fog.

Mehta's father, Raj Kumar Mehta, alleged gross negligence by local authorities and demanded strict accountability to ensure that "no other parent has to lose their son in such circumstances."
