India, Jan. 26 -- A village in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district has openly declared to boycott families whose children marry by choice, media reports said.

The incident occurred in Panchewa village.

A video has now gone viral where a young man can be heard announcing the ' village decree' amid the presence of a large number of villagers.

According to the announcement, any boy or girl who elopes and marries by choice will not only be punished, but their entire family will be ostracised, reported NDTV.

As per the decree, members of such families would not be allowed to participate in social events and milk and other necessities would not be provided to them.
