New Delhi/IBNS, Jan. 20 -- Former Bihar minister and five-time MLA Nitin Nabin formally took charge as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president on Tuesday, a few months ahead of assembly elections in five states.

At 45, Nabin became the youngest leader to hold the post, following all internal election norms of the party. He was elected unopposed.

He succeeds Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, who had assumed charge in 2020.

Representing the Bankipur constituency, Nabin was congratulated by senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a grand ceremony at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
