Washington/IBNS, Jan. 30 -- Nineteen bodies with no survivors have been recovered from the Potomac River of Washington DC after a passenger jet and US Army chopper crashed into the waterbody following a midair collision on Wednesday, media reports said.

The American Airlines Flight, which collided with a Black Hawk helicopter, was carrying 64 people. Three soldiers were in the chopper.

Many feared dead while no official confirmation has arrived yet.

About 300 first responders are searching for the bodies in the freezing river, said DC Fire chief John A. Donnelly.

All airport entrances have been closed.
