India, Jan. 15 -- An Air India aircraft suffered damage to one of its engines early Thursday after it sucked in a baggage container while taxiing at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport amid dense fog, the airline confirmed.

The incident involved Flight AI101, an Airbus A350 operating from Delhi to New York (JFK).

The aircraft had returned to Delhi shortly after takeoff due to the unexpected closure of Iranian airspace, which disrupted its planned route.

The airline said the aircraft was safely brought to its designated parking bay and that all passengers and crew remained safe throughout the incident.
