India, March 29 -- India's cricket icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni came out to bat at number 9 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) when it was too late for a turnaround in favour of the yellow brigade in a high-voltage match in the 18th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL).

Dhoni, who came out to bat when CSK was tottering at 99-7 chasing 197, smashed three fours and two sixes to score unbeaten 30 from 16 balls.

Dhoni, whose knock was too little, too late for CSK, became the second highest scorer for the team.

In history, CSK lost a match at their home turf against RCB for the first time since 2008 on Friday.
