India, Jan. 6 -- The Election Commission on Tuesday released the draft revised electoral rolls for Uttar Pradesh following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), revealing that 2.89 crore voters have been removed from the state's voter list. Among those excluded are 46.23 lakh deceased voters, the Commission said.
Of the total deletions, 2.17 crore voters were found to have shifted residence, 25.47 lakh were registered at multiple locations, and the remaining were confirmed dead. The final electoral roll will be published on March 6.
As part of the process, individual enumeration forms were printed for every voter, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducted door-to-door verification to collect signed forms.
