Mumbai, Feb. 26 -- The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is expected to be inaugurated on April 17, with domestic flight operations likely to begin in May, Business Standard reported, citing sources.
The development follows an inspection by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on February 25.
AAI Chairman Vipin Kumar, BCAS Regional Director Prakash Nikam, and representatives from AAHL and CIDCO attended the inspection.
However, following the latest assessment, 90% of those concerns have been resolved.
The first phase of NMIA is projected to handle over 20 million passengers annually, with expansion plans targeting 90 million passengers and 2.5 million tonnes of cargo by 2032.
