India, May 23 -- Bangladesh interim government chief Muhammad Yunus, who had taken charge of the country following former PM Sheikh Hasina's ouster on August 5, 2024, is considering stepping down, media reports said.
During unofficial discussions at an advisory council meeting, he voiced his desire to resign and address the nation through a televised speech, sources told The Daily Star.
He talked about his worries over aspersions on his government's performance and duties, sources told the newspaper.
Another source told Bangladeshi leading newspaper Dhaka Tribune, "The chief adviser feels somewhat embarrassed due to the continuous agitation on various issues recently. He does not want to remain in office if he cannot work independently...
