India, June 16 -- PM Narendra Modi was greeted in an Indian style by an official in Cyprus during his visit to the country on Monday.

Welcoming Modi to the historic Centre of Nicosia, Michaela Kythreoti Mhlapa, Member of Council of Nicosia touched the Indian leader's feet as a mark of respect.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi shared the video of the moment when Mhlapa was seen touching Modi's feet and said it was a 'deeply moving' moment.

Joshi wrote on X: "In a deeply moving moment in the historic centre of Nicosia, Council Member Michaela Kythreoti Mhlapa bowed to touch the feet of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodiji - a gesture of profound respect."
