India, Feb. 22 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Meerut Metro at the Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, marking the launch of what is being described as India's fastest metro system.
With the dedication of the entire 82-km Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor to the nation, the Prime Minister gave a major boost to urban and regional mobility across the National Capital Region (NCR). He also flagged off the Namo Bharat train from the station.
Addressing the gathering, Modi said the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail had become a symbol of the immense potential of "Nari Shakti", highlighting that women are serving as train operators, station control staff and in several other key roles across the network...
