New Delhi/IBNS, May 14 -- The Indian government has debunked US President Donald Trump's claim that trade played a role in his brokering of a ceasefire deal between India and Pakistan, which were engaged in an intense military operation last week.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India and the US discussed the then undergoing military operation but trade was not the subject in any of those discussions.

In a complete surprise, Trump last Saturday announced on Truth Social that he brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, who were engaged in a military conflict for three days from May 7.
