Washington DC/IBNS, Oct. 16 -- US President Donald Trump has claimed India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured him to pause buying oil from Russia, agreeing to Washington's demand to corner Moscow in a bid to stop the Ukrainian war.

Speaking at a press conference, Trump lauded Modi's long term as the PM contrary to his predecessors before claiming India will suspend buying energy from its all-weather friend Russia.

Trump said his next mission would be to make China follow the same steps in forcing Russia to stop the war against Ukraine going on for three years.
