India, July 2 -- Microsoft is cutting around 9,100 jobs, or 4% of its global workforce, marking its biggest round of layoffs since 2023, according to a report by The Seattle Times on Wednesday.

The company, which employed roughly 228,000 people worldwide as of June 2024, has not yet responded to a request for comment from Reuters.

Several companies across sectors have announced job cuts in recent months as they try to streamline operations in the face of economic uncertainty, continuing the trend of workforce reductions seen last year.
