India, Nov. 9 -- In a move reflecting Washington's renewed focus on Asia, US President Donald Trump has appointed Dr. Anjani Sinha, a Bihar-born medical and business professional of Indian origin, as the new American Ambassador to Singapore.
Dr. Sinha arrived in Singapore on Thursday to assume his diplomatic responsibilities.
His appointment underscores the United States' commitment to enhancing cooperation with Singapore in key sectors such as technology, defence, energy, and trade.
"For nearly six decades, US-Singapore cooperation has advanced shared goals in innovation, energy security, and defence. Ambassador Sinha will play a key role in strengthening these bonds and promoting prosperity across the region," the embassy stated.
