India, Dec. 2 -- Indian-origin AI researcher and engineer Amar Subramanya has been appointed Apple's new Vice-President of Artificial Intelligence, replacing longtime executive John Giannandrea, who will remain as an adviser until his retirement next year.
At Apple, Subramanya reports to top software executive Craig Federighi and will oversee foundation models, machine-learning research, AI safety, and evaluation-essentially steering Apple's next-generation AI strategy.
The move signals that Apple is doubling down on AI, especially after criticism that the company had lagged rivals in rolling out advanced AI features.
Who is Amar Subramanya?
