India, Feb. 20 -- Eric Dane, best known for his roles in Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria, has died at the age of 53, less than a year after publicly revealing his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
The California-born actor passed away on Thursday afternoon following what his family described as a courageous battle with the degenerative illness.
"With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS," his family said in a statement.
They revealed that the actor spent his final days surrounded by close friends, his wife Rebecca Gayheart, and their two daughters, Billie and Georgia, whom they described as "the centre of his world".
