Kolkata/IBNS, April 12 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has appealed to people to maintain "peace and harmony" as the Muslim-dominated Murshidabad district is on boil over the violent anti-Waqf Act protests.

In a long X post, Mamata has asked people to not behave in an inappropriate manner in the name of religion.

The Chief Minister has cleared her government won't implement the Waqf (Amendment) Act so asked Muslim people to refrain from rioting.
