India, Nov. 29 -- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese married his partner Jodie Haydon on Saturday, becoming the first sitting leader in the country to wed while in office.

The ceremony took place in Canberra following the final parliamentary sitting of the year.

"We are absolutely delighted to share our love and commitment to spending our future lives together, in front of our family and closest friends," Albanese said in a statement quoted by the BBC.

Details of the event were kept confidential due to security considerations.

Albanese later shared images and video of the ceremony on social media, showing the couple walking down the aisle.
