India, May 17 -- The Israel Defense Forces on Saturday said it eliminated a Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon.

However, the Israeli forces did not reveal the name of the eliminated Hezbollah leader.

In a X post, IDF said: "A commander from Hezbollah's Shaqif area, involved in the reestablishment of Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in the area, was eliminated in an IDF strike in the area of Mazraat Jemjim in Lebanon earlier today."

IDF said the commander was killed during a strike conducted in Mazraat Jemjim village.

According to local media reports, the village is located some 30 kilometers from the Israeli border - in the Tyre District.
