Mumbai/IBNS, Aug. 16 -- Two people have been killed in a landslide in Mumbai amid heavy rain in the financial capital of the country, media reports said.

It occurred in Jankalyan society where a family of four was staying.

The deceased have been identified as Shalu Mishra and Sureshchandra Mishra.

The two others in the family- Aarti Mishra and Rituraj Mishra- were injured and they were taken to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment.

Waterlogging has been reported from various parts of Mumbai which is battered by heavy rains.

The Mumbai Police has advised people to avoid non-essential travels.

The civic body BMC said all teams are working on ground to tackle the "emergency situation".
