India, Feb. 12 -- The Supreme Court on Monday extended the interim bail of Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra, in the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, which claimed eight lives.

A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice K V Viswanathan while extending the interim bail directed SC registry to obtain a report from the trial court on the progress of the case and adjourned the matter.

The case pertains to an incident of violence on October 3, 2021, in which eight people, including four farmers, were killed in Tikunia in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh.
