New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- The Ministry of Labour and Employment on Wednesday introduced the Occupational Shortage Index (OSI) to bridge skill gaps and improve employment outcomes by aligning workforce supply with industry demand.

The OSI, developed using International Labour Organization (ILO) methodology and quarterly Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) data, will provide data-driven insights into occupations experiencing shortages.

Alongside the OSI, the ministry also launched a multilingual e-Shram microsite facility to ensure seamless access to state and central welfare programmes for unorganised workers.
