India, July 4 -- The governing body of South Calcutta Law College, where a student was allegedly gang raped, had passed a resolution to renew the appointment of the accused, Monojit 'Mango' Mishra, in August 2024, media reports said.

'Mango' Mishra, who had been working as a temporary employee of the college on contract, has been sacked now.

NDTV has seen a copy of the resolution to renew his contract passed by the college's governing body, whose president is Trinamool Congress MLA Ashok Deb.

Deb instructed the college's vice principal to issue an appointment letter to 'Mango' Mishra, as per the resolution, reports said.
