India, Aug. 15 -- A group of Khalistani members tried to disrupt the 79th Independence Day celebration at the Indian Consulate in the Australian city of Melbourne on Friday.

According to The Australia Today X page, the Khalistani 'goons' created disruptions outside the Consulate building.

"Indians had gathered to peacefully celebrate India's 79th Independence Day, but the celebrations were interrupted," the post said.

The Indian consulate members were seen singing patriotic songs in reply to the Khalistani supporters. The video of the incident went viral on the social media.

As per a video posted on the official X handle of the consulate, the flag hositing ceremony was held.
